Required Tools

You'll need a few supplies to make your training easier.

First, you'll need a logbook–a ledger for your flight time. You'll need to meet certain minimum flight time requirements to qualify for a certificate, and your logbook will serve as a reference that you will keep throughout your flying that you will career.

A protractor/plotter helps you navigate. A flight computer–either electronic or a slide-rule–simplifies navigation calculations. A calculator is handy, too, if you use a slide-rule computer. And while it's not a requirement, a headset makes communications with your instructor and air traffic control easier.

When you purchase the Cessna CBI student pilot kit, you'll get everything you need to complete your lessons.  Instrument and commercial kits are also available from Airborne Systems.  Prices vary depending on the type of kit.
